The Kachin Independence Organization (KIO) will not recognize the election planned by the military council, and elections will also not be allowed to be held in areas controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), said Colonel Naw Bu, spokesperson of the KIO/KIA.

The Election Commission has announced that the election will be held in three phases, divided into three rounds, starting from December 28 and continuing until January 2026.

At present, fighting is still ongoing in Kachin State, including in Putao Township, Waimaw, Hpakant, and Bhamaw. The military is carrying out ground offensives as well as continuous aerial bombardments, according to reports.

In addition, the military council is reportedly continuing to recruit new soldiers for its military training programs, targeting young people across Myanmar, including Kachin State.

Therefore, Colonel Naw Bu confirmed that the KIA/KIO will continue to carry out military offensives in order to bring about the downfall of the military dictatorship.
