Man Abducted by Soldiers at Myitkyina-Shwe Lan Ma Junction

At around 2:10 pm today, October 3, at the Shwe Lan Ma road junction in Myitkyina, a white private car was stopped and checked along with a black car. After inspection, the driver of the white car was forcibly dragged into a military vehicle and taken away, according to eyewitnesses.

“They had been stationed at that spot since around 6:00 in the morning. At about 2:10 in the afternoon, they stopped a white car and a black car and inspected them. Then they forcibly pulled the driver of the white car into their military truck and drove away,” said an eyewitness.

It is reported that the soldiers had been stationed at the Shwe Lan Ma junction since 6:00 am, stopping and checking cars and motorcycles passing the area, and later in the afternoon, they forcibly abducted a driver. Similarly, in Hti Win Quarter last September, a Kachin man was also arrested under accusations of being a supplier.

Until now, there has been no contact and no information on how he was investigated or where he was taken. According to sources, the soldiers in that case checked the man’s phone and KPay transactions, accusing him of supporting PDFs, before arresting him. During the arrest, he was also severely beaten before being taken away.
