Man from Khat Cho Village Drowns

A male body was found floating along the river flow of the Ayeyarwady River near the motorboat jetty in Naung Hee Village, Waimaw Township, on April 29, according to local residents.
The man is believed to have drowned about a week ago while swimming with friends near the riverbank in Myitkyina. He was reportedly working as a gold miner.
The deceased has been identified as U Kwe Hsu, a 36 year old resident of a displacement camp from Khat Cho Village.
The body has now been transported to the cemetery in Khat Cho Village by the Mon Myat Social Rescue Association based in Waimaw.
Residents say that incidents of drowning have been occurring frequently in Waimaw Township in recent days.
