Man Injured by Landmine in Mogaung area

In Mogaung Township, an adult male was seriously injured by stepping on a landmine in the rubber plantation area while searching for lost cattle on September 23, according to a social welfare group.

A member of the social welfare group said, "He stepped on a buried landmine near the village’s rubber field. His left leg is in very bad condition, and his entire body also has several landmine fragments embedded."

The injured person is a 45 year old adult male who suffered severe bleeding, raising concerns about his life. He is receiving medical treatment after being transferred from Mogaung Hospital to Myitkyina Hospital.

In July 2023, a 14 year old ninth grade student was also injured by a landmine near Mogaung pagoda area close to the military base, resulting in the amputation of both legs.

In Mogaung Township, there are activities by some Kachin People's Defense Forces (KPDF), as well as by the Shan Nationalities Liberation Army (SNA).
