A 41 year old man named U Pyae Phyo Aung died after stepping on a landmine on September 25 near the roadside close to the Lung Tung Gate in the Indaw Gyi area, according to his family members and nearby residents.

The deceased man, who was originally from Konmana village and living with his family, had taken his wife to Hopin town and was on his return when the incident occurred. While pushing his motorcycle to start it near the roadside at the eastern side of the Shan Nationalities Museum close to Lung Tung Gate and trying to turn it on, he accidentally stepped on a landmine and was killed instantly.

He was known as the owner of "Ngai Pating Jewelry Shop" in Mai Naung village and left behind two children a six year old daughter and a three year old son.

It has been reported that the passage for vehicles through the Lung Tung Gate has already been closed for nearly three months. For students from villages on the other side of the gate who attend schools in Lonton, passage is allowed only three times a day, once between 8:00–8:30 a.m., once between 12:00–1:00 p.m., and once between 3:30–4:00 p.m.

Villagers with work matters are also allowed to cross during those times.Currently, villagers from areas near He Ho village junction on the eastern side of Indaw Gyi Lake controlled by the KIA are fleeing to Lwe Mun village because the Military Commission troops have been firing heavy artillery into the area every night, with shells frequently landing and exploding near settlements.

In the Indaw Gyi region, the Military Commission and the Shan Nationalities Army (SNA) control Nan Mun Hill, Nam Mun, Mai Naung, Mamone Kai, up to Lung Tung. On the eastern banks of the lake, areas including Shwe Let Pan, Le Pone Lay, and Sanun Kone to Hepu are under the joint control of the Military Commission and SNA.

Meanwhile, on the western banks from Nam Pale to Chaung Wa, and on the eastern banks from He Par to Lung San Ywa Thit village, almost the entire lake area is under KIA control. As the KIA expands its controlled territories, the Military Commission, instead of engaging in direct ground battles, has been conducting continuous airstrikes, artillery fire, and drone bomb attacks.

Strict inspections are also being carried out on local civilians crossing through Military Commission gates.Phone and internet services have been cut off in the Indaw Gyi region, making it extremely difficult to receive information.
