Two men, one woman and one child were killed by a heavy artillery weapon fired by the military council in Namma Nyaung Pyin Thar village, Mohnyin Township, Kachin State. Four men and a child were hospitalized with serious injuries.

“The heavy artillery hit him, while he was drinking green tea, after he got home from rice milling. He was anxious and he didn’t even know what to do. The firing started at three o’clock in the afternoon. And it was five o’clock when he was hit. The injuries were severe and he was taken to Myitkyina Hospital,” said the guardian of one of the seriously injured men.

There were one woman and two of her children who got hit by the heavy artillery. Among them a 35-year-old mother and her 7-year-old daughter died due to the heavy artillery and a 13-year-old daughter is receiving treatment for her artillery injuries at Mohnyin Hospital.

It is reported that the Shanni Militia group has been going around, recruiting people and arbitrary entering and searching the peoples’ houses in Namma.
