In Myitkyina, Kachin State, some medicines are reportedly running out due to difficult transportation routes and rising freight costs, according to local residents.
Due to transportation challenges and increased shipping costs, certain medicines have become scarce. In particular, medications commonly used by elderly people such as those for diabetes and blood sugar control are now nearly out of stock.
As a result of these shortages in Myitkyina, local residents are facing growing concern. In addition, previously available medicines are becoming increasingly scarce due to the lack of incoming supplies, leading to sharply rising prices.
Medicines in Myitkyina are mainly transported from Mandalay. However, due to transportation difficulties, not only medicines but also other food supplies have become more expensive and scarce.
