Recently, the military council has been carrying out frequent airstrikes during midnight hours when civilians are usually asleep using advanced aircraft in Kachin State.

A local resident described the situation as follows: “These days, around 12 a.m., 1 a.m., and 2 a.m., aircraft come and drop bombs. As soon as we hear the sound of planes, explosions follow. We cannot sleep at night. They have been attacking almost every night.”

This morning, a military jet fighter also carried out an airstrike on Mau Maw Bum Village in Hpakant Township, damaging five houses. However, as residents had already fled due to the conflict, no civilian casualties were reported.

Similarly, on February 23, airstrikes were carried out near Laiza, in Laja Yang, in Myothit Village near Bhamaw, along the road to Mai Ja Yang, and in the Wa Shawng of Waimaw township and Chihpwi areas.

The military council has been conducting offensive operations using advanced aircraft such as Su-30, MiG-29, Yak-130, JF-17, FTC-2000, and K-8. These aircraft are mainly used for precision strikes on specific targets, while Y-12 aircraft are reportedly used for area-based attacks.

In addition, Mi-35 helicopters are being used for close air support. Most of the aircraft are reported to be operating from bases in Tada-U, Magway, Meiktila, and Naypyidaw, according to the Myanmar Defense And Security Institute (MDSI).
