In Sitapu Ward, near the riverside road in Myitkyina, Kachin State, heavy artillery shells landed and exploded around midnight last night, damaging some houses and injuring people, according to local residents.

According to a young resident of Sitapu (Section 4), several homes were damaged by the artillery explosions near the riverside road.

“It happened around midnight last night. One shell landed near a tea shop, and another landed in front of a house where a car was parked. Nearby houses were also hit. A car and motorcycles were damaged as well. The two impact sites were not very far apart,” said a young resident of Sitapu Ward.

As a result of the explosions, some houses and vehicles inside the residential compounds, including cars and motorcycles, were damaged. A 40-year-old mother and 12-year-old daughter were injured.

Fragments of the artillery shells were reportedly collected this morning by the relevant authorities.

In addition, around 9 p.m. last night, a drone bomb exploded inside Myitkyina Airport, damaging the tail section of an MNA passenger aircraft.

Although no one was injured in that incident, all flights were suspended, and according to airline ticket sales staff, flight operations will be halted for about three months.

Previously, on February 12, Myitkyina Airport was also attacked with suicide drones.
