It has been reported that the military council troops have blocked the road at the Lamung Zup checkpoint, located north of Myitkyina, which connects Myitkyina and Putao in Kachin State.

Although no clashes have occurred along the Myitkyina-Putao road, the military has been stopping not only trucks and passenger vehicles but also travelers on motorcycles from passing through.

“It’s closed at Lamung Zup, but we don’t know why. There hasn’t been any fighting on the road. It’s been closed since this morning, and we still can’t go down. Vehicles that arrived at Tiyang Zup last night haven’t been able to enter here yet. We don’t know when it will reopen, but we’re planning to try again tomorrow,” said a driver.

Drivers who were forced to turn back due to the blockade at the military checkpoint in Lamung Zup village under the Alam area said they are waiting for the road to reopen, though no clear information has been given on when that will happen. Some drivers plan to check again tomorrow morning.

The military council had previously restricted men aged between 18 and 40 from passing through the Myitkyina-Putao road.
