According to local sources, the Myanmar military has been advancing its columns toward areas occupied by resistance forces in the Hpakant region of Kachin State, focusing primarily on locations held by the KIA joint forces.
The Military Council has pushed its troops toward Sharaw Hka, Nyaung Pin Kone Gate, and Marau Village, where KIA affiliated units are positioned. Drone and heavy artillery attacks were launched during the advance, with explosions reported around Kade Maw.
“A military column is now advancing mainly toward the areas where the KIA forces are positioned. The drones and heavy weapons have not stopped at all,” a local resident said.
On 25 November, after the Military Council once again advanced its column into the Hpakant area, troops reportedly stationed themselves in monasteries, religious compounds, and school buildings.
Since then, renewed military movements by the junta have led to clashes between the Military Council troops and the KIA joint forces.
Military Council units are reportedly conducting continuous ground and air assaults in an attempt to retake areas they previously lost control of, aiming to secure the Hpakant region in time to facilitate the planned election.
