It is reported that the Military Commission carried out an airstrike on Sadung town, located along the Kan Pai Ti road in Waimaw area, Kachin State, even though no clashes were taking place.
Around 10 a.m. on the morning of November 16, a (Y-12) aircraft dropped two bombs. The airstrike landed and exploded on one side of the main road, and thus no civilians or houses were harmed or damaged.
Although there were no clashes occurring in Sadone town, this kind of aerial attack shows that the Military Commission is treating anyone opposing the military coup as an enemy and is intentionally carrying out operations aimed at destroying towns under KIO control or unable to be recaptured. The KIO’s Information and Public Relations Department stated that civilians living in liberated areas need to be especially cautious of airstrike threats.
Local residents are said to be in fear due to the sudden aerial attack on Sadone, where no fighting had taken place. On September 29, the Military Commission also dropped bombs from aircraft onto the market area in Sadung town, killing eight civilians, including three children, and seriously injuring six others.
