The Military Council and allied SNA forces reportedly detained and escorted over 200 residents from Bamauk and Saiktaw Village. The detainees are said to be civilians who had been sheltering in the forested hill areas near the villages due to the ongoing conflict, and among them are elderly persons over 60 who were confined at village monasteries.

It is claimed that the faces of the detainees were covered with cloth and they were driven away in vehicles from the western side. Earlier in September, authorities detained around 800 people from Kyaung Lai Village. Following this, on September 21, the junta’s forces retreated from Bamauk town toward Kyaung Lai village and Saiktaw village, firing heavy weapons toward Kyaung Lai village and the Kyaung Lai- Saikataw area.

As a result of the shooting, many civilians, including children and women, sustained injuries, and more than 5,000 residents of Bamauk town are believed to be seeking safety elsewhere.
