It has been observed on social media pages that the Foreign Exchange Supervisory Committee of the military council has issued an announcement banning the importation of 35 types of consumer goods from abroad, ranging from toothpaste, toothbrushes, and soap.
The 35 consumer goods whose import from abroad has been banned include toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, slippers, batteries, medicines, candles, cotton, mobile phones, car tires, bulldozers, elevators, generators, engine oil, light bulbs, electric bicycles, acid batteries, shovels, hammers, lamps, plastic baskets, boxes, cups, and cement.
In addition, among food products, instant noodles, sweets, biscuits, soy sauce, coffee beans, coffee powder, dried tea leaves, various fruits, tissues, dairy yogurt etc. are also included.
The reason given is to reduce the use of foreign currency by limiting and banning imports of foreign products. However, the announcement did not specify the exact date on which the ban would take effect.
It is also learned that among the 194 committees and commissions abolished by the military council on August 1, the Foreign Exchange Supervisory Committee was included as well.
