The military council has extended the state of emergency in 63 townships, including those under the control of resistance forces.
The state of emergency for these 63 townships was first declared on July 31 for a period of 90 days. The military council has now announced another 90 day extension of that order.
The National Defense and Security Council, which has assumed all three branches of state power, reaffirmed that the order issued on July 31 remains in effect, as officially declared on October 31.
Among the 63 townships under the extended state of emergency are five townships in Kachin State: Sumprabum, Shwegu, Njangyang, Sawlaw, and Chipwi.
