Military Council Forces Daily Shell Residential Areas with Heavy Weapons

In Hpakant Township, Kachin State, where military columns have entered and stationed themselves, the Military Council troops have been repeatedly shelling residential areas where there has been no fighting this month, as well as conducting drone bombings, according to sources.

A local resident stated, 'Last night around 12:30, heavy weapons landed in three directions around Seng Tawng Ward. A woman and a man were seriously injured. It also landed near a Chinese temple, near a school hostel, and in Maung U's cattle farm, killing two cows. It also landed near a noodle shop. And this is just what we know about.'

Furthermore, during military operations within the town, they frequently engage in the arbitrary arrest of civilians on the streets and indiscriminate shooting.

It is also known that from last night around 12:30 until this morning, heavy weapons were fired continuously. In some areas within the town, heavy weapons landed and exploded, causing severe injuries to innocent civilians.

It is said that due to such actions by the Military Council the indiscriminate firing of heavy and small arms, arbitrary arrests, torture, and killings, the residents of the Hpakant area are living in constant anxiety and fear.
