Military Council Increases Salaries for Government Employees as “Additional Support Allowance”

Starting from October 1, all government employees, including retired staff members, will receive a salary increase of 30,000 kyats under the name of an “additional support allowance,” according to an official announcement from the Ministry of Finance and Revenue.

At the same time, the daily wage for day labor staff in ministries has been raised to 7,800 kyats per day.This additional support allowance also applies to all retired government staff, who will now receive an extra 30,000 kyats per month beginning today, October 1.

Meanwhile, daily wage workers employed in government departments and organizations will be paid exactly 7,800 kyats for eight working hours per day.Because of this salary increase for government employees, including retirees, it was learned that over one million current government employees, nearly one million retired staff, and all military personnel will receive additional monthly payments.

 The authorities also stated that for staff in urban areas, salaries will be paid through a digital payment system. Since the military takeover, allowances for government employees, soldiers, and retirees have been increased three times , the first in 2023, the second in 2024, and this time being the third increase.
