It is reported by locals that on the Myitkyina-Hpakant road, in Seng Hpra village, military council troops have taken positions and stationed themselves, while also conducting heavy checks on civilians traveling along the road.
The military council troops are said to have occupied local residents’ houses in the village, and some units have set up gate checkpoints inside the compound of the Baptist Church (KBC).
Those stationed at the church compound checkpoint have been carrying out strict inspections on travelers, and it is reported that around September 10, local villagers have fled toward Myitkyina.
In addition, groups of military council troops have also been active and taking positions around the crossroads of Sabaw village. Due to fears of possible clashes, most of the local residents have already fled in advance toward Myitkyina.
Among the residents of Seng Hpra village, some have taken refuge at the Jaw Masat displacement camp in Myitkyina (10 mile away from city), while others are still hiding in the nearby forests and mountains, according to reports.
