Local residents said that junta troops stationed at the Hti Hka Bridge area between Putao, Machanbaw, and Alang Ga villages are strictly inspecting pedestrians and travelers, questioning them, threatening them, and demanding money, causing serious concern for local people’s safety and mobility.
Previously, there had been no military presence in the area, and people were able to travel freely. However, since late 2025, joint forces of the junta and militia groups have been stationed from Alang Ga Village to Htang Ga Village, raising security concerns among residents.
Currently, these joint forces are not only conducting military activities in the area but are also confiscating money obtained during inspections and interrogations, according to sources.
The junta’s allied forces have been carrying out military operations and maintaining positions in the Machanbaw area, including Htang Ga and Alang Ga villages, since last year. Since then, roads in eastern Putao have also been blocked, and the restrictions remain in place to this day.
