It is reported that military council forces are reinforcing their presence in Hpakant and Waimaw areas of Kachin State, launching repeated air and heavy artillery attacks around towns in order to secure the holding of elections.
Starting from September 16, military convoys have advanced from Kamai towards Hpakant, with forces now reaching Lone Khin village and joining with other troops to continuously launch offensives.
In addition, after capturing Hpakant–San Chyoi village, the military council forces carried out heavy artillery shelling and burned down gemstone mining sites.Meanwhile, in the Waimaw-Lamyang area, the military has conducted consecutive airstrikes, heavy shelling, and ground offensives.
The Election Commission has stated that once the military council regains control of currently lost territories, by-elections will be held continuously, with the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) expected to fully contest these elections.
