Although the military commission is preparing to hold a nationwide election, it has been reported that the Myanmar military is increasingly conducting targeted attacks in areas controlled by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in Kachin State.
In recent days, even in KIA-controlled areas where no clashes had occurred, airstrikes have intensified. Frequent aerial bombings have prompted local authorities in some KIA held territories to restrict Starlink Wi-Fi usage to prevent information leaks to the military.
“A few days ago, our Starlink Wi-Fi was cut off for about three days. They said it was because of information leaks. Now they shut it down after 9 p.m., and sometimes when drones are flying overhead, they turn it off too,” said a local resident who asked not to be named.
Starlink Wi-Fi has become widely used in resistance-controlled territories, enabling the rapid spread of internal information. However, due to concerns that such communication may allow the military to identify and target resistance zones more effectively, Starlink access hours are being restricted, sources said.
The military council has been conducting daily aerial bombings not only in active conflict zones such as Hpakant, Waimaw, and Bhamaw, but also in relatively calm areas like Langse and Sadung. Civilian casualties continue to be reported as a result of these ongoing airstrikes.
