Locals say that as the military council’s election day draws near, the junta has been expanding its troop presence and launching offensive operations in Putao Township, Machangbaw Township, and the Hkawnglanghpu area, along with carrying out airstrikes.
According to locals, frequent clashes between the two sides have occurred in recent days along the eastern side of Tanja Village on the Putao-Myitkyina road, as well as along the Mali Hka River, while daily airstrikes have also been conducted.
It is reported that near the Nhkaw Hka area east of Tanja Village, junta forces and its Joint Forces have been engaging in offensive operations, resulting in repeated clashes, along with continuous air support and attacks.
Local residents say that in the Lungshayang village and the Tanja Village area, the junta has been making preparations for the upcoming election. Due to frequent attacks by revolutionary forces, the junta and its Joint Militia Forces appear to be increasing offensive operations and airstrikes with the aim of protecting their election activities.
