According to military sources, the junta’s naval vessels, which were attempting to reinforce their military supplies to Bhamo, were intercepted by the KIA-led joint forces and have since retreated. No further advance has taken place from Shwegu.
On July 27, a fleet of military vessels attempting to move from Shwegu toward Bhamo came under interception by the KIA (Kachin Independence Army) joint forces. As a result of the attack, some vessels were reportedly damaged and subsequently retreated back toward Shwegu.
Currently, the remaining vessels are stationed near Shwegu and have yet to continue their advance toward Bhamo.
As the junta’s vessels continue to navigate along the Irrawaddy River, the Kachin Independence Army and People’s Defense Forces have issued alerts, urging riverine residents in the region to remain vigilant and to take precautionary measures in anticipation of potential conflict.
