Mine Explosion in Mashi Kahtawng Hpakant Area, Man Killed by Head Injury

A mine explosion occurred this morning at around 7:00 AM near the Aung Myo Thu Car Workshop in Mashi Kahtawng Hpakant area, Kachin State. As a result, a man died after suffering a severe head injury.

An eyewitness nearby stated, "He looked like a jade scavenger. He wasn’t wearing a shirt, only wearing half pants. Before the mine exploded, he was climbing around near the blast site, like he was searching for something. After a while, it just exploded.

Nowadays, drug users can be convinced to take risks for just a small amount of money. So maybe someone made him go plant the mine? Something like that."

The deceased man is estimated to be around 30 years old and is believed by locals to be a drug user.

It is reported that the man died due to a head injury caused by the explosion. His identity has not yet been confirmed.
