The military junta carried out more than 550 human rights violations during December 2025 and conducted up to 262 airstrike attacks, according to a statement released by the NUG Ministry of Human Rights.

As a result of the junta’s airstrikes during December, 198 civilians, including children, were killed, and 375 civilians were injured.

Nationwide, there were over 260 airstrike incidents, with the Sagaing Region being the most heavily affected, recording 79 attacks. In Sagaing alone, 81 civilians were killed, including 6 children.

In addition, Rakhine State also suffered casualties, with 54 civilians, including 5 children, killed. The report states that homes, schools, and religious buildings were deliberately targeted. It further notes that evidence of these human rights violations against civilians is being systematically documented to hold the military junta accountable.

Due to aerial bombings, the following structures were destroyed: 21 Buddhist religious buildings, 3 Christian buildings, 15 schools, 317 civilian homes, and 4 healthcare facilities.

Furthermore, repeated incidents of mass casualties and destruction have been reported. Airstrikes continue across the country into the new year, and civilian casualties are still being recorded, according to the report.
