As Myitkyina Airport in Kachin State remains closed, local residents say it has created difficulties for people who urgently need to travel, and they are calling for the airport to function as soon as possible so that passenger flights can resume.
Currently, passenger flights are not operating at Myitkyina Airport, but military aircraft are reportedly continuing to travel regularly.
“Although the airport is still closed, military aircraft are coming and going whenever they need. Therefore, it would be good if the airport could be function as soon as possible so that passenger planes can also operate,” said a local resident.
Myitkyina Airport was temporarily suspended and closed after it was attacked with an FPV suicide drone bomb on the night of February 20.
Following the incident, the military council stated on February 23 through the National Defense and Security Council information team that efforts were being urgently carried out to restore normal flight operations at Myitkyina Airport in order to facilitate public travel and the flow of goods.
