Although the Ministry of Transport and Communications has announced that key airports, including Myitkyina Airport and Putao Airport, would resume operations starting from March 25, ticket sales in Myitkyina remain suspended, and no flights have resumed yet, according to our sources.

Due to transportation difficulties, flights were scheduled to resume with priority from March 25 to cities where air travel is essential, including Putao, Myitkyina, Kengtung, Tachileik, Kawthaung, Kyaukphyu, Sittwe, Kalay, Homalin, and Hkamti, as announced by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

However, according to an airline ticket sales staff member, ticket sales for Myitkyina Airport remain closed until the end of May.

“Flight tickets are closed for sale until the end of May, and only bookings for June are currently open. We are not sure how the situation will change in the coming days. There are some people selling tickets online, but at this time, there could also be scammers,” the staff member said.

Most domestic flights in Myanmar have been temporarily suspended due to insufficient aviation fuel, and only limited domestic flights are currently operating.

Myitkyina Airport has been closed since February 21 following an air attack on a Myanmar National Airlines (MNA) passenger aircraft, and it has now been closed for over a month.
