The Myitkyina-Hpakant road has been indefinitely closed by both military factions due to escalating conflict, with the State Administration Council (SAC) now conducting large-scale troop movements in Kamaing town, according to local residents.

"The SAC first blocked the road, and after three days, the KIA reimposed the closure. With the road shut, civilians face severe travel disruptions. Now, with the military intensifying operations in Kamaing, we’re living in constant alert," said a local from Kamaing.

The military council initiated the blockade on April 21, and today April 24, the KIA enforced its own indefinite closure.

Sources close to frontline operations report that the KIA’s counter-blockade was a direct response to the SAC’s aggressive maneuvers in Kamaing, despite the regime’s extended "temporary ceasefire" declaration.

"The SAC announced a ceasefire extension, but they’re pushing heavy troop columns into Kamaing. We had no choice but to seal the road again," a frontline source explained.

Since the road closure, the military has escalated operations, deploying full combat units and severely disrupting civilian movement.

In Lawa village along the Myitkyina-Hpakant route, the military seized control in March, triggering frequent clashes with the KIA in nearby areas.
