Nearly 5,000 civilians have been forcibly displaced from the Inndaw area as the military council, along with allied Militias, have been conducting tight security checks and engaging in ethnic discrimination.

It is reported that Shanni Army forces are also heavily active in the area, with strict inspections of travelers, forced conscription, and other coercive actions taking place.

In particular, Kachin people are reportedly being subjected to more severe scrutiny and oppression, with allegations of killings emerging, though these remain unconfirmed.

Most of the displaced civilians are fleeing via overland routes, while some are also escaping by river.

Of the total number of those displaced, around 2,000 are currently taking refuge in forested and mountainous areas, while nearly 3,000 have sought shelter within KIO controlled territories.

As a result, there is an urgent need for food, basic supplies, and humanitarian aid support.

Fierce clashes are currently ongoing in both Hpakant and Inndaw. On July 18, the resistance forces were forced to retreat from two locations after the military launched a major offensive, allowing Shanni Army troops to establish positions prompting widespread civilian displacement.
