According to military sources, nearly 75% of buildings in Bhamo town have been damaged or destroyed during the nearly five-month-long battle to seize control of the town.

Amid intense fighting in Bhamo, the military junta carried out 75 airstrikes using Y-12 aircraft, 75 drone strikes, 19 jet fighter attacks, and 82 artillery strikes over the past week, with clashes still ongoing, reported the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) News Agency.

After nearly five months of fighting, allied forces under the KIA have captured most of the military junta’s garrison positions inside the town.

Frontline sources report that airstrikes, drone attacks, and heavy artillery fire by the junta have resulted in 75% of Bhamo’s infrastructure being damaged or destroyed.

Meanwhile, KIA-led allied forces continue their offensive operations, with only seven remaining junta strongholds—including Light Infantry Battalions (LIB) 21 and 47—still under regime control.

Despite the junta’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire until the end of May, ground assaults and aerial attacks persist as the military struggles to retain control of Bhamo.
