According to a report by KHRW Kachin Human Rights Watch, between August 1 and August 15, across Kachin State, 45 civilians were injured and 9 civilians were killed due to military weapon attacks.

The attacks occurred as the military council shelled residential areas and main roads using heavy artillery and drones. It is reported that among the dead were children and school students.

KHRW has called for targeted accountability measures, urging the United Nations and international human rights organizations to take concrete action against the military council’s human rights violations, as well as against individuals and organizations that support and assist in sustaining the military regime.

In addition, KHRW emphasized the need to increase humanitarian support for the wounded, children, women, and internally displaced persons (IDPs). They stressed the importance of providing greater assistance in healthcare, psychological support, and other basic necessities.
