In Bhamaw City, Kachin State, where intense fighting is still underway, one armored vehicle used by the junta forces in ground assaults alongside their airstrikes was destroyed by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and allied forces during the ongoing battle.
The major city capture battle in Bhamaw has been going on for over eight months, and at present, clashes are reported in Military Operations Command Headquarters (MOC-21) and around five other key locations within the city.
During the battle for Bhamaw, the KIA allied forces also overran units of the junta’s No. 5014 Armored Battalion and No. 7006 Armored Vehicle Battalion, seizing at least seven armored vehicles.
Since early August, naval groups arrived in Bhamaw, and following that, munitions stockpiled at the headquarters of the Military Operations Command-21 (MOC-21) have been distributed to remaining bases in Bhamaw. Fighting continues fiercely on both sides as reinforcement convoys are attacked during their operations.
