One Civilian Killed and Five Others, Including Children, Injured Due to Military Council’s Heavy Artillery Fire in Seng Tawng

Kachin State, Hpakant, Yesterday evening around 9 PM on August 7, a heavy artillery shell fired by the Military Council exploded inside the compound of Seikmu KBC Church near Prayer Mountain in Seng Tawng, Hpakant, causing casualties among civilians.
“A shell falling near Prayer Mountain, they definitely targeted the civilians. We don’t know how long they will continue to fire,” said a local resident of Hpakant.
The artillery shell was fired by the Military Council troops stationed at the Byuha Kung (Strategic Hill) and exploded inside the KBC Church compound near Prayer Mountain in Seng Tawng.
As a result of the shell explosion, an innocent local woman was killed, and five civilians, including a young child, sustained severe injuries.
Additionally, on August 5, a student aged 9 years who was injured due to the Military Council’s artillery shelling in the Si Pin Kwe Thit ward of Hpakant later died while receiving medical treatment.
