Residents of Hopin Town say that over 70 men were rounded up and taken away by the KIA from a gambling den in Hopin Town, Mohnyin Township, and that a 9th grade student was among them and has not yet been released.

"There is a cock fighting ring inside a large compound on the other side of the Thayet Chaung (Thayet Stream) in Hopin's Mya Zay Yar ward. This ring is permanently there and is always very crowded; it's noisy until night. I heard that the neighbors reported it because it was noisy day and night. Only men were taken, over 70 people. There was one 9th grade student," said a Hopin resident.

The incident occurred on September 7th. Those arrested were from Hopin Town, Pin Baw, Nanhkuang, and Myo Thit village. It is said the KIA took them to the southeast of Mohnyin Town. Furthermore, the same source added that it was stated that the 9th grade student and those over 50 years old would be released.

Within Moenyin Township, the SAC, SAC backed Militia, KIA, and other armed groups are active. It has been learned that after 8 p.m., if people go outside, they face the ongoing risk of being forcibly recruited as soldiers.
