Drivers report that passenger vehicles and cargo trucks traveling along the Myitkyina-Mandalay route have been stranded due to military council offensives currently taking place in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region.

Northbound vehicles have been stuck starting from Zeekone junction, as well as in villages including Alel Hlyo and Yaykyi Oo, while southbound vehicles remain stranded in Baw village, Lwal Shayk, 11 Pauk, and Aye Thar Yar village, according to the drivers.

Since August 16, military council forces and Pyu Saw Htee militia under its command have been launching offensives and setting fires in the southern part of Kanbalu Township. As a result of these military operations, hundreds of vehicles traveling between Myitkyina and Mandalay have been trapped for several days, sources say.

In addition to burning and destroying five villages in southern Kanbalu Township, junta forces are also reinforcing military strength towards the Hpakant area and continuing their attacks, according to reports.
