Report Claiming Entire Village Was Buried by Rare Earth Mining Site Collapse Near Hpare Village Is False

A collapse occurred at a rare earth mining site near Hapre Village, a KIO-controlled area, resulting in the death of a young woman who was at a shop near the mining site, according to information received.

The landslide reportedly began at around 5:00 a.m. on December 18. Workers inside the mining site and vendors nearby were able to flee in time, but one young woman was caught and buried in the landslide.

Although reports circulated by junta affiliated media claimed that a Chinese business owner and the entire village were buried in the landslide, local residents have confirmed that these claims are not true.

The site of the landslide is located some distance away from Hapre Village, and three market stalls were damaged due to the collapse.
