Residents of Indaw Township, located on the border of Kachin and Sagaing regions, have begun fleeing in advance as military council forces are advancing into the area with large troop formations, according to local sources.
Military council troops reportedly entered from Katha along the Htigyaing–Katha road with a large convoy of military vehicles, moving toward Indaw, including forces from Light Infantry Battalion 309 based in Katha.
Due to the significant buildup of troops and the likelihood of intense clashes between both sides, local residents are preemptively evacuating to safer locations, taking essential belongings with them.
Since the third week of January, many residents from Katha have already been displaced into Indaw Township due to the battle to seize Katha. Currently, those displaced persons are being forced to relocate again.
Amid reports that military council forces may launch further offensives into Indaw Township, the Indaw Revolution (IR) group has also issued a public warning urging residents to prepare essential items, medicines, and food supplies in advance.
