In Hopin Town, Kachin State, resistance forces attacked junta troops who were patrolling for security on motorcycles near the town’s entrance gate on the morning of November 12, according to reports.
A clash broke out between the two sides in the morning, during which three junta soldiers were reportedly killed, while one member of the Kachin People’s Defense Force (KPDF) also lost his life.
Later in the afternoon, junta troops from the Hopin based Light Infantry Battalion 40 indiscriminately fired heavy artillery shells toward the eastern part of the town.
In addition, joint forces of the military council and the Shan Nationalities Army (SNA) advanced with full strength toward Nam Yin Village, located east of the town, and have reportedly stationed themselves at the Katkone Monastery.
Local residents said that junta forces have been carrying out random drone bomb attacks on areas suspected of being resistance bases.
