Revolutionary Forces Have Shot Down 20 Military Aircraft in Four Years, Announces NUG

During the four year period since the military council's coup, revolutionary forces have successfully shot down or destroyed 10 military jets and 10 helicopters belonging to the military junta, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government (NUG).
In Kachin State, on May 3, 2021, the military junta's Mi-35p Helicopter ( Tail number 6815) was shot down in Momauk Township. On January 3, 2024, an Mi-17 Helicopter was shot down in Waimaw area. Additionally, on May 20, 2025, another Mi-17 Helicopter was shot down in Shwegu Township, and on May 21, 2025, an additional helicopter was shot down within Shwegu Township.
Similarly, apart from Kachin State, revolutionary forces have reportedly shot down military aircraft in various regions, including Mandalay Region (Pyinoolwin Township), Sagaing Region (Sagaing Township and Pale Township), Chin State (Hakha Township and Paletwa Township), Tanintharyi Region (Thayetchaung Township), Naypyidaw (Lewe Township), Karenni State (Bawlakhe Township, Thandaung Township, and Hpasawng Township), Shan State (Kutkai Township), Karen State (Myawaddy Township), Magway Region (Salin Township), and Yangon Region (Hmawbi Township).
In Kachin State, the military council continues to aggressively carry out indiscriminate attacks using heavy weapons and airstrikes, not only in areas with intense fighting but also in residential areas where civilian populations live.
