Revolutionary Forces Warn IDPs Living Between Momeik and Mabein to Relocate in Advance

Revolutionary forces have reportedly warned internally displaced persons (IDPs) living between Momeik and Mabein to relocate in advance as the military council has launched military operations toward Mabein Township, an area currently controlled by the Kachin Independence Army in northern Shan State.

Since early May, the military council has been advancing toward Kachin State with large numbers of troops along the Mandalay–Momeik–Mabein–Ngar Oo road route.

The joint forces led by the KIA reportedly carried out ambush attacks against the advancing military columns, resulting in clashes between the two sides. Military tensions are said to remain high up to the present time.

In addition, military council forces are reportedly transporting military supplies toward Kachin State via the Mandalay–Htigyaing–Katha road. On May 12, military supply convoys were reported to have arrived in Myitkyina.
