As the road leading to Htang Ga villages in the eastern part of Putao Township remains closed, local residents say they are facing increasing difficulties in transportation and are worried about growing livelihood hardships.

“We cannot go anywhere. It has been months already. For now, we are surviving with what we have and sharing food among ourselves. If supplies run out and the road is still not opened, we are very worried,” a local resident said.

At present, junta troops are conducting military activities in and around Htang Ga village, and travel routes remain blocked.

The road was closed after fighting broke out near Htan Ga village on 11 October last year.

Local residents mainly rely on hillside farming and agriculture. Other food supplies and daily necessities are usually transported via the Htang Ga road from Machanbaw and Putao.

Although there are currently no active clashes in the area, tensions between the opposing sides remain high.

The eastern Putao region includes villages such as Dingkhet, Ding Ga , Marawt, Mapyung, and Dingsa.
