Sadung town, located along the Waimaw-Kanpaiti road in Kachin State, was attacked by the military with an airstrike in the afternoon of September 29.
According to local residents, several homes were destroyed, 5 people were injured, and 8 civilians lost their lives.
“A bomb dropped near the market in Sadung, so many civilians were killed and injured, and quite a number of houses were also destroyed,” said a local resident of Sadon.
In addition, after bombing Sadung, military council forces also carried out an airstrike on Manwin area, according to a resident there. “After they bombed Sadung, they came and struck this Manwin side too. It didn’t drop in the town center but fell on the southern outskirts of Manwin. No casualties have been reported here,” a local resident explained.
Sadung town was captured by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) in June 2024. Military council forces reportedly carried out these air attacks without any ground battle in Sadung. Beyond Sadung, the military council has also been advancing with offensives in the Waimaw–Lamyang axis, using airstrikes, drones, and heavy artillery in daily assaults.
