It has been learned that intense clashes are still ongoing between the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and junta forces in Bhamaw town, under the command of KIA’s Battalion (3).
At present, fighting continues not only around the junta’s Artillery Unit (366) and the airfield positions inside Bhamaw, but also in several other locations. On the morning of August 24 at around 5 a.m., the junta launched a series of consecutive air bombing attacks.
Since the arrival of military vessels carrying junta troops and weapons in early August, daily clashes between the two sides have intensified heavily in the Bhamaw area.
In addition to ground offensives, the junta forces are attacking using airstrikes, drone bombs, and heavy artillery, employing a wide range of weaponry for continuous assaults.
Similarly, in the Hpakant area, military reinforcements and build ups have been carried out in recent days. As military movements continue, daily battles are happening, resulting in civilian casualties and deaths occurring frequently.
