In recent days in Hpakant region, junta troops stationed at Hpakant Byuha Hill have carried out artillery shelling, drone bombings, and airstrikes targeting civilian populated areas, resulting in continuous civilian casualties on a daily basis.

On the afternoon of August 26, artillery shells and drone bombs fired from Hpakant Byuha Hill exploded across different locations. One drone bomb dropped inside the kitchen of Mani Zey Yone Monastery, injuring a monk and three children.

A local resident said, “In the afternoon, the bomb that dropped in Mani Zey Yone Monastery fell in the kitchen. Luckily no one was killed, but a monk and three children were injured. We kept hearing explosions the whole night.”

In recent days, apart from artillery shelling, junta forces have been conducting drone bombings, airstrikes, and indiscriminate attacks across Hpakant. Explosions continued into last night, reportedly occurring in many parts of the area.

“What we heard so far is that one bomb fell near Seng Tawng 7 Star, another landed inside a company compound near Bazan Chaung, and others dropped near Yuma and on the road leading to Seng Tawng. We don’t know the exact details yet about the damages and number of casualties,” another resident explained.

Similarly, in the early hours of today, shortly after midnight, artillery shelling by the junta exploded near Kathan Village in Lone Khin village tract, killing a Chinese national living in the area. Further details on casualties and damage are still under investigation by Pa Jaung Media.
