Schools in villages along the eastern bank of the Indawgyi region in Mohnyin Township, Kachin State, except for Hae Pu, Hae Par, San Ning Kone, and Inn Thar villages, will reopen and operate normally as in previous years, according to sources from the education community.

It is reported that the Indawgyi region has a total of 59 schools, including 10 high schools, 9 middle schools, as well as primary and post-primary schools.

In addition, discussions have reportedly been held between KIA allied forces and local residents in KIA-controlled areas of the Indaw region to ensure that schools can reopen for the improvement of children’s education and to avoid disruptions to educational activities.

Frequent clashes between joint military forces and KIA allied forces continue to occur in eastern bank villages such as Hae Pu, Hae Par, San Ning Kone, and Inn Thar. Due to concerns over instability and security in those areas, schools there have not yet been reopened.
