From January 1 to May 21, a total of 50 teachers and students from the education sector were killed nationwide due to violent attacks by the State Administration Council (SAC), including 38 children under the age of 18, according to a report released by the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners (AAPP).

Among the casualties, 31 were women and 18 were men. Airstrikes by the SAC caused the highest number of deaths, with 40 fatalities, while artillery shelling killed four others.

According to records by BNI-Myanmar Peace Monitor, between April 23 and May 6, three civilians were killed in Kachin State during a two-week period, with one airstrike and 11 clashes reported.

Nationwide, Kachin State saw the highest number of clashes. Due to ongoing armed conflicts, SAC artillery strikes, and the burning of civilian homes, around 1,000 locals were forced to flee to safer areas.

BNI has warned that as long as the SAC continues its indiscriminate airstrikes, schools, religious institutions, displacement camps, hospitals, clinics, villages, and neighborhoods across Myanmar will remain potential targets.
