In the vicinity of Maw Si Za (Tharyar Kone) in Lone Hkin, Hpakant Township, State Administration Council (SAC) troops have been firing heavy artillery (60mm) and intense clashes between both sides are ongoing, according to frontline sources.

"They are recklessly shelling the village and Tharyar Kone with heavy weapons, even though civilians are still present in the area," a source said.

Military movements near Maw Si Za began around 8:30 this morning, and artillery fire could still be heard as of noon. As of the time of reporting (around 2 PM), military columns remain in the area, and the situation is still being monitored.

Since SAC troops continue to advance along the Lone Hkin road, locals have been advised to exercise extreme caution when traveling not only in Lone Hkin but also in Maw Si Za, Kade, and Namma Phyit routes.

Following the SAC’s increased operations in Hpakant Township, some residents have fled while others remain in the area. The military has also been stationing troops in civilian residences and monasteries, sources added.

Furthermore, the Kachin Human Rights Watch (KHRW) reported that between June 1 and June 8, the SAC deliberately set fire to and destroyed civilian homes in Hpakant Township 11 times.
