In Han Htet village, Mansi Township, Kachin State, strong winds and heavy rain have damaged many homes in an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp, leaving residents in urgent need of assistance, according to displaced people.

The storm, which occurred on March 28, caused significant destruction to shelters inside the camp, making it difficult for displaced people to maintain proper living conditions.

There are 78 households and 256 people living in the camp. Most of the shelters are temporary structures made of bamboo with tarpaulin roofing, making them highly vulnerable. As a result, the damage and destruction were severe.

Due to these conditions, displaced people are in need of humanitarian support. They also reported that, because of multiple hardships, they have not yet been able to repair their homes.

Similarly, on April 1, strong winds and heavy rain also caused further damage to homes of both displaced people and local residents in Namti town, Mohnyin Township.
