The Anti-Coup Armed Forces Have Warned The Residents Of Putao To Stay Alert

According to the local residents, Putao which is the Kachin Independence Army (KIA)’s Brigade (1) area has been fighting for seizing military camps since the evening of March 8, so people in the area have been warned to be careful and to stay safe.
“The places that have been attacked and seized now are not very close to where the people live. But there is a possibility that fighting will continue in the Putao area, so people should be alert and be careful,” said a front-line source.
The KIA’s outposts seizing operation against SAC started at around 2:00 PM, yesterday March 8th in Putao region and the SAC’s camp between Sumpra Bum and Mali Yang village was finally attacked and seized at 11:00 PM, said the above source.
The KIA joint forces attacked the SAC’s 46th infantry battalion camp which was the large support camp and 3 other small camps yesterday evening at around 2:00 PM and at 8:00 PM all the SAC soldiers from the military base fled. In addition, the weapons were also seized. During the offensive attack in Mali Yang village, the SAC camp based in Sumpi Yang village fired heavy artillery and small weapons around the village, once at 4:00 PM and once at 8:00 PM.
A resident of Sumpi Yang said, “Now the clashes are going on everywhere, so it is not easy to flee to other places. We are always staying alert and get ready with our important items and foods”.
In the Kachin State, the offensive attacks that started on March 7th by the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) and the anti-coup armed group joint forces took place simultaneously around the KIA headquarters, along Myitkyina-Bhamo road and within Momauk Township and seized at least 10 SAC military camps within 2 days of the attack.
In addition, the Putao residents said that since the fighting has started in the Putao area, the officials have warned the civilians to listen to the news of the clashes and to stay alert with caution.
