There aren’t any celebrations and worship programs on the (76th) Kachin State Day like last year, which used to celebrate on January 10th, and the Kachin National Forum (KNF) organization also honors all the soldiers who died in the armed clashes for self - determination. And they issued a statement that all members of the Burmese Military Council, which has been arbitrarily arresting and killing people in various ways for many years, should leave Kachin State as soon as possible.

In the statement, the International War Crimes Tribunal asked the Burmese Military Council to take effective action as soon as possible, all states have the right to create their own destiny, to continue fighting for the right to self- determination and all the members of the Burmese Military Council, who have been unjustly arresting and killing people for many years in various ways, are to leave Kachin State as soon as possible.

The Kachin State Day which is celebrated on 10th January was used to be celebrated with a large number of people back in the years, but this year there was no 76th Kachin State Day celebration led by Kachin public organizations.

Kachin State is an area that has been ruled by the Duwa system in its territory for many years, and since 1945, it has been directly ruled by the British government under the KACHIN HILL REGULATION Act.

After that, they signed the Panglong Agreement on February 12, 1947 and gained independence together on January 4, 1948.

According to the statement of the Kachin National Forum – KNF, the Kachin people have been oppressed from all sides without political and equal treatment for almost 80 years since independence.

Since the 2021 political changes, when the civilians were participating in the revolution of military power, it was not able to freely hold the Manau festival to commemorate Kachin State Day.

After the independence of Myanmar, 10th January was designated as Kachin State Day. Today, it has been 76 years, but the Kachin did not get fair rights till now and the clashes between the two sides in Kachin State are still going on.
